Laura Bronson
Content strategist, writer, and editor with 25+ years of experience shaping content across media, technology, and AI-driven products
My career started with a simple instinct: if something needed to be done, I volunteered.
While I was in graduate school at Northwestern, I took on freelance work editing and producing newsletters for an organization of socially minded entrepreneurs. When they invited me to New Jersey to help produce a daily newsletter during their annual conference (Ben and Jerry were both there!), I took the opportunity to travel into New York City for a few magazine interviews.
Two job offers later, I packed up my belongings, shipped them to Manhattan via UPS, and moved from Kansas to New York to begin my career in publishing.
Building content expertise across magazines and digital media
My first job was as an assistant production editor at Country Living. I helped manage schedules, coordinate manuscripts and proofs, and keep complex editorial workflows moving.
But I was always drawn to the words themselves.
During slower moments in the production cycle, I began helping the copy editor proofread. Before long, I moved into the copy and features department, where I wrote, edited, and shaped stories—work that confirmed what I had suspected all along: I loved making content clearer, stronger, and more engaging.
That instinct to pitch in wherever I could continued throughout my career. When editorial teams needed assistance launching new digital products, boosting content performance, or managing complex publishing workflows, I stepped forward.
Over time, my roles expanded to include content strategy, editorial leadership, SEO, e-commerce content, email marketing, cookbook development, and even product management.
In short, I did whatever it took to launch and grow successful content.
Leading content initiatives at media brands
Over the past 25+ years, I’ve worked with some of the most respected media companies and brands, including Scholastic, Simon & Schuster, Real Simple, Martha Stewart, and Hearst Magazines.
Along the way, I’ve led content teams, developed editorial strategies, launched new digital initiatives, and helped organizations create content that connects with audiences and delivers results.
Through it all, one thing has remained constant: a deep respect for language, clarity, and the power of thoughtful editing.
Helping organizations with content strategy and editorial work
Today, through Good Bear Content Studio, I partner with organizations that need experienced, strategic content support.
Sometimes that means writing or editing. Other times, it involves shaping messaging, creating voice guidelines, enhancing UX copy, supporting AI-driven content and prompt systems, or helping teams build stronger, more consistent content practices.
No matter the project, my goal is always the same: to help clients communicate clearly and connect with the people they want to reach.
And while I’ve been a New Yorker for many years, my Kansas roots still run deep. I’m practical, collaborative, and easy to work with—and I care deeply about doing good work.
If you’re looking for a content strategist, writer, or editor who brings clarity to complex ideas, I’d love to hear about your project. You can reach me at info@goodbearcontent.com.

Just for Fun
I’ve been an elf on Santa’s sleigh in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and a handler for a very windblown Diary of a Wimpy Kid balloon.
I am a loyal fan of the Kansas Jayhawks, especially the men’s basketball team and the journalism school. Rock Chalk, Jayhawk!
Since 2004, I’ve volunteered with the New York Philharmonic, welcoming patrons to their lounge, greeting concertgoers, and writing city guides for their international tours.
I support Pet Rescue NY, the wonderful organization that saved my senior adoptees—first Ozzie Bear and now Frankie Girl.
